Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire on High Road in South Woodford.
Two cars and a van were destroyed by the blaze. Part of another car and a small part of the exterior of a church were also damaged by fire. One man was treated on scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade’s Control Officers received 21 calls about the blaze.
The Brigade were called at 1144 and the fire was under control by 1241. Fire crews from Walthamstow, Chingford and Leytonstone fire stations are at the scene.
The Brigade’s fire investigators believe the fire was accidental and was caused following a spillage of fuel while refilling a generator.
