Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a recycling plant on Nathan Way in Thamesmead.
Around 100-tonnes of household waste was alight. Five people left the premises before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 0838 and the fire was under control by 1003. Fire crews from Plumstead, Erith and East Greenwich fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
