Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters dealt with a fire at a waste management facility on Devon Street in South Bermondsey.
Part of a single storey unit containing around 200 tonnes of domestic waste was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
Firefighters worked hard in arduous conditions to bring the fire under control.
The Brigade was called at 1508 and the fire was under control by 1806. Fire crews from Old Kent Road, New Cross, Peckham, Dockhead and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
