Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackled a fire in a waste sorting centre on Ardra Road in Edmonton.
Half of a single-storey recycling unit containing waste sorting equipment and around five thousand tonnes of household waste was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 0709 and the fire was under control by 1148. Fire crews from Edmonton, Tottenham, Chingford, Enfield and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
