Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters were called to a fire at a warehouse on Viking Way in Bexley.
Firefighters tackled a fire at a single-storey warehouse, which contained a number of business units. Two industrial units were destroyed by fire. Two people left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
Crews removed a number of gas cylinders from the building and cooled them down as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.
The fire was discovered by a member of public who saw dark smoke and flames coming from the rear of the property and made the first call to 999.
The Brigade's Control Office took 24 calls about the fire.
Firefighters remained at the scene throughout the night to dampen down the area. Residents and businesses in the area were advised to continue to keep their windows and doors shut due to the smoke.
The Brigade was called at 1815 and the fire was under control at 2332. Fire crews from Erith, Bexley, Plumstead, East Greenwich, Sidcup and other surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire will be investigated by the Brigade.
