Janine has extensive experience of senior communications leadership roles in high profile organisations in both the private and public sectors. She was appointed as Director of Communications and Engagement in November 2024, joining from the role of Corporate Affairs Director at AWE Plc, which plays a pivotal role in the UK’s national security.
Prior to that Janine was Corporate Affairs Director at HS2 Ltd for six years, supporting the programme until its formal Notice to Proceed in July 2020. Previously, she held roles at British Gas and Network Rail, and has experience of operational organisations and major incidents. She has also worked in the NGO sector and local government in London, where she began her communications career after working as a journalist in her native Scotland.
Outside her work with LFB, Janine volunteers as a reading support guide at her local school where she also chairs the Governing Board.
