Vulnerable people and people living in purpose built flats are taking the hit for developers not installing sprinklers!
Sprinklers provide much needed time in the event of a fire - especially for vulnerable people who would struggle to escape quickly.
Developers often say people's safety is too expensive - they won't take the hit, so we need a change in the law to protect people.
We need to get this #SprinklersHit sorted!
We want to see the law changed so sprinklers are installed in more buildings throughout England to protect more lives.
We are calling for it to be mandatory for sprinklers to be installed in:
The Government is consulting on the guidance for building regulations that could force builders to fit sprinklers in more buildings now - so we need to move quickly.
This is a once in a generation opportunity to change the law on sprinklers

We send thousands of letters to building developers every year asking them to make sprinklers a crucial recommendation for their planned build, every year they ignore us.
Now is the chance to ensure the safety of buildings and people for future generations.
By changing the law on sprinklers, the decision on whether to install them or not won't be based on cost, it will be based on a duty of care to the people in those buildings. It could, with your help, be the law.
When the people in a building have trouble moving quickly, or moving at all, sprinklers are even more important. Vulnerable people deserve to be protected. We want sprinklers in all buildings where vulnerable people live, so the most vulnerable in our society are protected.
Currently the guidance accompanying Building Regulations state that all new residential buildings in over 30 metres tall should have sprinklers installed. We don’t think this is good enough.
We believe sprinklers should be installed in all new purpose built flats, or at the very least flats that are 18 metres tall or higher.
