Model and serial number identification

Mark all appliances with model and serial number so they can be identified after a fire

We want all white goods to be marked with the model and/or serial number so we can identify the appliance after a fire.

At present, even before a fire, the model and serial number can be difficult to find with different manufacturers putting them in different places. After a fire it can be almost impossible.

If the appliance isn't too badly burned we might be able to find it, however, a severe fire will leave no trace. Our fire investigators may only be able to identify them by a unique design feature.

Why is it important?

Without knowing the make and model of the white goods that caused the fire, it is impossible for us to warn people of the danger. It also makes it harder for us to determine where the fault might be.

The more we know, the more we can help.

What could withstand such heat?

One way to do this would be to have the number stamped into a metal plate, however, there are lots of design solutions - we don't mind which one manufacturers use.

Take action now to make people safer by supporting our first ask of the manufacturers.
