We work with the Police, the RSPCA and other specialist organisations to rescue animals in distress
We work in dangerous smoke-filled environments, so we need to test our breathing apparatus regularly
When we visit a building there might not be a fire. We also visit to inspect, familiarise ourselves, and offer advice
We fight fires in all types of buildings, so we train and have processes in place to tackle them
From flash floods to burst water mains, we help people to safety, and restore and maintain order
We attend incidents that involve hazardous materials so that we can make people, and the area, safe
Regular inspection and maintenance ensures that we can access water when we need it to keep you safe
We set up a command structure to manage crews and resolve incidents as safely as possible
This method is used to rescue people on tall structures, or in deep trenches and tunnels
Our search and rescue teams specialise in finding and freeing trapped people
We work hard to ensure that we learn from every incident we attend
For each type of incident, we've agreed in advance what resources will need to be sent
We work to reduce the levels of fire contaminants that staff are exposed to and minimise the health risks they could cause.
