Firefighters rescued a man from a flat fire on Deptford High Street in the early hours of this morning.
He was rescued by fire crews wearing breathing apparatus from the first floor flat. The man was suffering from smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers dealt with a blaze. A further 15 people from surrounding flats were also led to safety.
The Brigade was called at 0103 and the fire was under control by 0345. Firefighters from New Cross, Deptford, Greenwich and Dockhead fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
