Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man from a second floor flat on Kennington Lane in Lambeth, last night.
Crews led the man out of the property via an internal staircase and he was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service. A woman left the building before the arrival of the Brigade.
Part of a three roomed flat on the second floor was damaged by fire.
Fire engines from Lambeth and Clapham attended the incident.
The Brigade was called at 2229 and the fire was under control at 2334. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
