Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled a fire at a theatre on Kennington Oval, early this morning.
Part of the box office on the ground floor was damaged by fire and fortunately there were no injuries.
Station Manager Paul Hobbs who was the scene said: "The fire affected the theatre's box office and was discovered by cleaners on the site.There was a lot of smoke and firefighters worked extremely hard in hot conditions to bring the fire under control."
Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers from Lambeth and Brixton fire stations attended the incident and crews remain at the scene damping down the remaining hot spots.
The Brigade was called at 0657 and the fire was under control at 0828. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
