Four fire engines and 21 firefighters attended a small fire in the rear of a garage workshop on Canterbury Road in West Croydon, just after midnight this morning.
Firefighters contained the fire to the top of a workbench.
Fire engines from Croydon and Norbury fire stations attended the incident.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and the result of a rechargeable torch which was left on charge overnight.
The Brigade was called at 0002 and the fire was under control at 0059. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
