A man was rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus from a fire at a hostel on Birkenhead Street in St Pancras, yesterday afternoon.
The man was led to safety from the property via an internal staircase and 15 other people left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
Part of a bedsit on the first floor of the four floor building was damaged by fire.
Two fire engines from Soho and Euston fire stations attended the incident.
The Brigade was called at 1535 and the fire was under control at 1619. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
