Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers attended a gas cylinder alight at a house of Cheneys Road in Leytonstone this afternoon.
Ten people were temporarily evacuated from neighbouring properties and a 5m hazard zone was put in place while crews cooled the cylinder as some cylinders can explode when they are exposed to heat.
No-one was injured during the incident.
Fire engines from Stratford, Leytonstone, Homerton and Leyton fire stations attended the incident.
The Brigade was called at 1549 and the incident was over at 1804.
