Eight fire engines and 58 firefighters and officers attended a fire at a disused nightclub of two floors on Exchange Street in Romford, this evening.
Part of the first floor of the building was damaged by fire; fortunately no-one was injured in the incident.
Brigade control officers took 10 calls in the early stages of the fire.
Station Manager John Fahey who was at the scene, said: “Crews worked hard to make an attack on the fire and to bring it under control quickly.
“Firefighters will remain at the scene throughout the night turning over and damping down remaining hotspots.”
Crews from Romford, Hornchurch, Dagenham, Harold Hill, Barking, Ilford and Plaistow fire stations attended the incident.
The Brigade was called at 2120 and the fire was brought under control at 2320. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
