Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to secure a house boat on Boardwalk Place at Poplar Dock Marina this afternoon.
The 25 tonnes residential vessel flooded 90 centimetres under the water. A light pump was used to remove the water, and the barge was then moved to a safe location.
The owner of the boat was not home, and thankfully no one was injured
The Brigade was called at 1208 and the incident was under control by 1536. Fire crews from Poplar, Millwall, East Ham, Homerton and a Fire Rescue Unit from Bethnal Green fire stations attended the scene.
