Twenty one firefighters and officers were called to a fire in a flat on Bermondsey Wall West, Bermondsey last night. A man was rescued from the flat by firefighters but was sadly confirmed dead at scene.
Part of the third floor flat was damaged by the fire.
Four fire engines from Dockhead, Old Kent Road, Deptford and Dowgate fire stations were at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 1737 and fire was under control by 1923.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade’s Fire Investigation Unit and the Metropolitan Police.
