A woman rescued by breathing apparatus crews from a flat fire on Haslemere Close in Wallington on Friday morning (16 December) has sadly died in hospital.
The fire damaged around a quarter of the first floor flat and the woman was taken from the scene to hospital by London Ambulance Service. She subsequently died in hospital on Saturday (17 December).
The Brigade was called at 0856 and the fire was under control by 0934. Three fire engines and 15 firefighters from Wallington, Croydon and Sutton fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
