Firefighters rescued a man from a flat blaze on Camberwell Church Street in Camberwell last night.
The man was led to safety by fire crews wearing breathing apparatus. He was suffering from smoke inhalation and was treated by London Ambulance Service crews. Another man escaped before firefighters arrived. He was also treated from smoke inhalation.
A small part of the flat on the second floor was damaged by fire.
The Brigade was called at 1759 and the fire was under control by 1844. Fire crews from Peckham and Brixton fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
