Four fire engines and 20 firefighteers were called to a car alight on the Aylesbury Estate on Thurlow Street, Elephant and Castle this afternoon.
The fire destroyed a car on the first floor garage level of a block of flats.
The Brigade was called at 1601 and the fire was under control by 1647. Fire crews from Old Kent Road, Peckham, Dockhead and New Cross fire stations attended the incident. Around 50 people left the flats before the Brigade arrived and London Ambulance Service assessed four people at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
