Four fire engines, 21 firefighters and officers were called to a billboard alight on a platform at Woolwich Arsenal station this evening.
The 7 x 5 metre advertising hoarding on platform two was destroyed in the fire and around 200 people were evacuated from the station as a precaution.
The Brigade was called at 1858 and the fire was under control by 1933. Crews from Plumstead, East Greenwich and Eltham attended. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
