Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a moped alight at a petrol station in Shepherd's Bush.

The scooter caught fire while next to a petrol pump at a forecourt on Shepherd's Bush Green.

The moped was completely damaged by fire. Half of an adjacent petrol pump and a small part of the petrol station roof were also damaged in the blaze.

Five people left the petrol station before the arrival of the Brigade and there were no reports of any injuries.

Station manager Charles Hanks, who was at the scene, said: “Crews worked extremely quickly to extinguish the fire and stop it spreading to the rest of the station and nearby cars.”

The Brigade was called at 1955 and the fire was under control by 2036. Crews from Hammersmith and North Kensington fire stations attended the scene.
