Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a house fire in Thornton Heath this afternoon.
The blaze broke out on the first floor of a terraced house in Beulah Road.
Half of the first floor of the property was damaged by fire.
The property was fitted with smoke alarms which sounded and alerted neighbours, who called the Brigade.
The fire is believed to have been caused by a faulty hairdryer.
The Brigade was called at 1202 and the fire was under control at 1308. Crews from Croydon, West Norwood and Norbury fire stations attended the scene.
