Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers were called to a fire in a flat above a café on Green Lanes in Harringay this afternoon.
The communal staircase and landing between the first and second floors, part of a second floor flat and part of the three storey property's roof was damaged in the blaze. Crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued a woman from a second floor flat via an internal staircase and she was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
The Brigade was called at 1536 and the fire was under control by 1641 Fire crews from Hornsey, Walthamstow, Kentish Town, Stoke Newington and Tottenham fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation and crews will remain at the scene damping down.
