Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers dealt with a scrap yard fire on Bromley Hall Road in Bow.
A large pile of rubbish was damaged by the blaze. Eight gas cylinders were also involved in the fire. A hazard zone was set up as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat. Firefighters cooled the cylinders down and removed them to safety.
The Brigade was called at 1907 and the fire was under control by 2124. Fire crews from Poplar, Shadwell, Millwall and Stratford fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
