A man has died at a house fire on Askwith Road in Rainham this morning.
Part of the ground floor was damaged by the fire. Firefighters found the man in the kitchen and brought him out of the property but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 0631 and the fire was under control by 0658. Two fire engines from Dagenham fire station attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
