Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire in a school building under construction on Harbury Road in Carshalton this morning.
Part of the first floor of the two storey building was damaged by the fire. Thankfully there were no injuries and 100 pupils and staff safely evacuated the school before the Brigade arrived.
The Brigade was called at 0932 and the fire was under control by 1113. Fire crews from Wallington, Sutton, Croydon and Purley fire stations attended scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
