Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters and officers dealt with a house fire on Cornwallis Grove in Edmonton this afternoon.
The first floor of a two storey house was severely damaged by the blaze.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus assisted two elderly women from the property. They were both suffering from smoke inhalation and were treated on scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
The Brigade was called at 1504 and the fire was under control by 1605. Fire crews from Tottenham fire station attended the scene.
