Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a track fire at Vauxhall rail station this morning. The fire affected signalling cabling and as a result the power has been isolated.
There are a number of disruptions to trains in and out of Vauxhall and Waterloo station. As services return to normal passengers are advised to check the latest travel information before they travel.
London Fire Brigade Station Manager John Ryan said:
"Once the power was isolated firefighters quickly got to work to tackle the fire.
“We’ve now handed the incident over to rail staff, however an appliance remains on site as a precaution."
The Brigade was called at 0239 and was under control at 0828. Fire crews from Lambeth and Brixton fire engines were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
