A stray firework is believed to be the cause of a maisonette on Rowley Way in West Hampstead, NW8 this evening (Saturday).
Eight fire engines and 58 firefighters and officers were called to a fire which badly damaged the two storey property.
Thankfully no-one was inside the maisonette at the time and there were no injuries.
The Brigade was called at 2038 and the fire was under control by 2257. Crews from West Hampstead, Paddington, North Kensington, Kentish Town and surrounding fire stations attended the incident.
Investigations carried out by fire officers and the police found that it was most likely a firework that had landed at the back of the property and caught items near the rear window alight.
