Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers tackled a small roof fire at a building under construction on Featherstone Street in Islington this afternoon.
A worker tried to tackle the fire and suffered minor burns to his hands.
Station Manager Sam Kazmanli, who was at the scene said: “Around 350 workers evacuated the site before the Brigade was called. Please leave firefighting to the professionals and get out, stay out and call 999.”
The Brigade was called at 1303 and the fire was under control by 1344. Fire crews from Islington, Shoreditch, Whitechapel and Soho fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
