Fifty people were evacuated after a car crashed into a house causing a gas leak on Pump Lane in New Cross this morning.
Two women were treated for shock and firefighters helped make the scene safe. The ruptured gas main was capped by gas engineers and around 50 people who have been evacuated as a precaution were allowed back into their properties.
The Brigade was called at 0755 and the incident was over for us at 1049. Fire crews from New Cross, West Norwood, Croydon, Battersea and East Ham attended the scene.
