Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a house in Canham Road, South Norwood in the early hours of this morning.
Half of the ground floor and part of the first floor of the property was damaged by fire.
One woman was rescued by neighbours from a first floor window using a builder’s ladder. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 0020 and the fire was under control at 0130. Fire crews from Woodside, Norbury and Beckenham fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by fire officers and the police.
