Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a timber yard in Bexley High Street in Bexley.
Two plastic crates containing wooden off cuts were damaged by fire. Part of the eaves of a neighbouring building, part of the company’s van, part of a timber store and waste sawdust also sustained minor fire damage.
The Brigade was called at 2201 and the fire was under control at 2247. Fire crews from Bexley, Sidcup, Eltham and Plumstead fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is believed to be due to an unattended brazier left too close to the plastic crates.
