Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a building under refurbishment on Camden High Street yesterday evening.
The fire damaged a small part of the basement of the building which comprised of the basement, which was under refurbishment, a shop on the ground floor and five flats on the first and second floors.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire and six people left the flats before the Brigade arrived.
The Brigade was called at 2105 and the fire was under control by 2151. Crews from Kentish Town, Euston and Soho fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
