Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers dealt with a fire in a house on Chalk Road, Plaistow in the early hours of this morning. The whole of the two storey end of terrace house was badly damaged by fire.
Five people left the property before the Brigade arrived. They were all treated by London Ambulance Service crews. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus led two women to safety. They were both suffering from smoke inhalation and also treated by Ambulance crews.
The Brigade was called at 0041 and the fire was under control by 0221. Fire crews from Plaistow, East Ham, Stratford and Barking fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
