Unattended cooking is believed to have been the cause of a flat fire on Purley Road in Croydon yesterday afternoon.
The fire damaged part of a four roomed flat on the fourth floor of the five storey block.
A Brigade’s spokesperson said:
“You should never leave cooking unattended – if you have to leave the room or the house, turn the heat off."
The Brigade was called at 1635 and the fire was under control by 1718. Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers from Croydon, Wallington and Purley fire stations attended the incident.
