Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a restaurant in Maiden Lane in Covent Garden.
Part of the restaurants extraction system from basement to first floor level was damaged by fire.
Approximately 30 people left the restaurant before the arrival of the Brigade. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1038 and the fire was under control at 1234. Fire crews from Dowgate, Lambeth, Shoreditch and Islington fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and due to the build up of oil or grease in the extraction system
