Over 70 firefighters and officers tackled a fire at a car breakers yard on Landau Way, Erith this evening.
A large section of the yard was alight and 40 members of staff from nearby premises were evacuated as a precaution.
Ten fire engines from stations including Erith, Bexley, Plumstead, East Greenwich and Eltham fire stations were at the scene
The Brigade was called at 1734 and the fire was under control by 2030. Firefighters continued to damp down into the night.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
