Six fire engines and around 35 firefighters and officers were called to a house fire on Wingfield Street in Peckham SE15 during the early hours of this morning.
The fire gutted the ground and first floors of the mid terraced property and a large part of its roof.
Crews worked hard to stop the fire spreading to adjacent homes and firefighters led three people in a rear garden to safety through a neighbouring property. Another person left the house before the Brigade arrived. All four were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.
The Brigade was called at 0240 and the fire was under control by 0445. Crews from Peckham, New Cross, Old Kent Road, Brixton and Forest Hill fire stations attended the incident.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service.
