Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a shop in High Road, North Finchley.
Part of the shop was damaged by fire.
Ten people evacuated the flats above the shop and adjacent building before the arrival of the Brigade. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 2226 and the fire was under control at 2315. Fire crews from Finchley and Hornsey fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is believed to be due to a cardboard box left on top of a kiln.
