Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a terraced house in Meadowcroft Road in Southgate.
Part of the first floor and half of the loft conversion were damaged by fire. One man left the property before the arrival of the Brigade and he was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
The Brigade was called at 1553 and the fire was under control at 1720. Fire crews from Southgate, Edmonton and Tottenham fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
