Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a shoe repair shop in Kingsland High Road in Dalston.
Part of the ground floor was damaged by fire. One man was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 2116 and the fire was under control at 2151. Fire crews from Stoke Newington, Islington and Shoreditch fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
