Firefighters dealt with a fire in a sheltered accommodation on Berkeley Road in Manor Park last night.
The fire was confined to a bed and there was heavy smoke throughout the bedroom. Fire crews in breathing apparatus rescued two people who were both uninjured.
The Brigade was called at 1922 and the fire was under control by 1945. Firefighters from East Ham and Stratford fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
