Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a storage yard behind the disused Wimbledon Greyhound stadium on Plough Lane.
A pile of waste was alight. Smoke from the fire was highly visible across the local area and the Brigade’s ‘999’ Control Officers took more than ten calls to the incident.
The Brigade was called at 1232 and the fire was under control at 1459. Fire crews from Wimbledon, Tooting, Wandsworth and Battersea fire stations attended the incident.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
