Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers dealt with a fire in a beauty salon on Battersea Rise in Battersea this afternoon.
The fire was contained to a cupboard under on the ground floor. Five members of staff and four customers left the salon before the Brigade arrived. Thankfully there were no injuries.
London Fire Brigade spokesperson said:
“A member of staff smelt burning just before the smoke alarm operated. They found a small fire in a cupboard and removed some nearby combustible items in an attempt to limit the fuel loading. At the same time other staff evacuated the salon. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus put out the fire and stopped it from spreading.
“The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.”
The Brigade was called at 1453 and the fire was under control by 1534. Fire crews from Wandsworth, Tooting, Chelsea and Fulham fire stations attended the incident.
