Eight fire engines and 58 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a car repair workshop in a railway arch on Rosebank Road in Walthamstow.
Half of the workshop, which contained car tyres, was damaged by the fire.
Station Manager Stuart Grout, who was at the scene, said: “Crews spent a lot of time cutting away at the building to access the fire.
"They cleared the contents of the workshop in order to reach the seat of the fire. Thankfully no injuries are reported.”
The Brigade was called at 0513 and the fire was under control at 0843. Fire crews from Walthamstow, Leyton, Bethnal Green, Leytonstone, Homerton, Tottenham and Stratford fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
