Firefighters were called to a burst water main at the junction of Eversholt Street and Doric Way near Euston Station this morning.
Around 120 metres of roadway was flooded to a depth of around half a metre. Four basement properties were flooded to a depth of around two metres and six commercial premises were also affected. Crews led two people to safety and were on the scene pumping water away from properties.
A number of road closures were in place at the time of the incident on Eversholt Street and motorists were advised to avoid the area.
The Brigade was called at 0407 and the incident was over for firefighters at 1209 when it was handed over to the local water authority. Two fire engines and a fire rescue unit from Euston and Soho fire stations were at the scene, along with around 20 firefighters and officers.
