Three fire engines and 14 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a block of flats in Heaton Avenue in Romford.
A bin room and bin chute openings on the first and second floors sustained minor fire damage.
Approximately 10 people left the building before the arrival of the Brigade. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1718 and the fire was under control at 1820. Fire crews from Harold Hill, Romford and Hornchurch fire stations attended the scene.
